Purpose and scope

Indian Footage Media Pvt. Ltd. does not tolerate fraud in any form. This policy sets out the conduct that is prohibited on our platform, how we monitor for it, what happens when it is found, and how to report a concern.

It applies to every account, release, delivery and payout we handle, and to any interaction with Stores, collecting societies, payment providers and platforms we work with. Accepting our Terms of Services or using the platform means you accept this policy.

02

Conduct covered by this policy

  • Artificial streaming, views, saves, follows or other engagement inflation.
  • False ownership claims, impersonation and catalogue theft.
  • Identity, KYC and payment fraud, including payout diversion.
  • Mislabelled or misleading metadata, artwork and contributor credits.
  • Abuse of Content ID, claims and copyright processes.
  • Account takeover, credential sharing and platform manipulation.
  • Money laundering, tax evasion or sanctions circumvention through the platform.
03

Stream and engagement manipulation

You may not buy, generate or coordinate artificial activity, including:

  • Streams, views, saves or follows generated by bots, click farms or paid engagement services.
  • Incentivising listeners to stream a release in exchange for money, gifts, prizes or entries.
  • Repeated, automated, muted, looped or device-farm playback designed to inflate royalties.
  • Manipulating playlist placements, chart positions, recommendations or platform analytics.
  • Using third-party promotion services that do not disclose how plays are generated.

Stores audit activity independently and share their findings with distributors. Detected manipulation typically results in removal of the release, reversal of royalties, and restrictions that can extend to the artist, label and distributor accounts.

04

False ownership, impersonation and catalogue theft

You must hold, or be authorised to administer, every right you claim. We do not accept releases submitted under another artist's name, artwork or branding without authorisation, nor catalogue uploaded on behalf of rights holders who have not appointed you.

This includes recreating a well-known track and releasing it under a confusing title or artist name to capture search traffic, re-uploading a removed release from a new account, and claiming royalties on a composition administered by another publisher. Accounts that falsely claim to represent an artist, label, composer or rights holder may be suspended immediately and the affected catalogue taken down.

05

Metadata and content fraud

Metadata must accurately describe the release. You may not misrepresent the featured artists, contributors, language, territory, genre, release date or ownership splits, or use another party's brand or trademark to attract traffic.

Synthetic or cloned voices, AI-generated performances presented as a real artist, and releases containing uncleared samples or interpolations are treated as rights fraud. Uploading content that has been removed from Stores by another distributor to bypass that removal is also prohibited.

06

Identity, KYC and payment fraud

We verify artist, tax and payout details before releasing funds. You must provide accurate legal identity, tax and bank information, and you may not use another person's identity, payment instrument or bank account.

Prohibited conduct includes opening accounts with fabricated entities, redirecting a payout to an account you do not control, paying subscription fees with stolen instruments, and submitting manipulated tax documents. Payouts may be held while we investigate mismatched payee details, chargebacks or suspicious activity, and amounts paid in error may be recovered.

07

Account and credential fraud

Keep your login credentials private and enable two-factor authentication where available. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. Do not share access between unrelated parties, sell accounts, or attempt to access another user's account or data.

Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access so we can secure the account and review any changes to releases or payout details.

08

How we detect fraud

We combine automated checks with human review across releases, metadata, listener patterns, payout requests and complaints. Signals we monitor include sudden abnormal streaming patterns, geographic concentration inconsistent with the release, repeated uploads of the same audio, mismatched rights documentation, velocity of new accounts and payment anomalies.

We also act on reports from Stores, societies, rights holders and platform partners, and share relevant findings with them where necessary to protect the ecosystem.

09

Investigation and interim measures

Where a concern is identified we may:

  • Request documentation proving ownership, identity or authority to act.
  • Pause delivery, monetisation or payouts while the review is completed.
  • Restrict access to parts of the platform while evidence is gathered.
  • Remove or replace metadata and artwork to prevent ongoing harm.

We will usually contact the account holder, but may act first and notify afterwards where delay would allow the conduct to continue or evidence to be lost. Reviews are handled on a confidential basis.

10

Consequences

Outcomes of a substantiated finding may include:

  • Removal of releases and forfeiture of royalties generated through the conduct.
  • Clawback of amounts already paid, and set-off against future earnings.
  • Suspension or permanent closure of accounts and rejection of new submissions.
  • Recovery of losses including Store penalties, fines and legal costs.
  • Referral to law enforcement, tax authorities or platform partners.

These measures are in addition to any rights we hold under the Terms of Services, and decisions take account of severity, intent, prior conduct and the quality of evidence.

11

Reporting suspected fraud

If you believe a release delivered by us is fraudulent, infringing or misrepresenting rights, report it through our Copyright Issues page or email info@ifmedia.in. Include release links, ISRC or UPC codes, the store where you saw the issue and any supporting evidence.

Reports are handled confidentially and in good faith. Deliberately false reports made to target a competing artist may themselves breach this policy.

12

Cooperation with platforms and authorities

We cooperate with Stores, societies, payment providers and law enforcement where fraud is suspected, and may share account, release and transaction data as required to investigate a complaint, comply with a lawful request or meet our contractual obligations to those partners.

13

Review and governance

This policy is reviewed at least annually and after any significant fraud incident. Staff with access to releases, rights data or payouts receive training on the controls described here, and we keep records of investigations and outcomes to improve detection over time.
